October 3, 2024 – Beaver Dam, Wi – Dr. Jerry “Doc” Alan Olson, 75, passed suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his lake home in Beaver Dam. He was born on August 3, 1949 to Clarence “Happy” and Arlene “Tena” (née Hendricks) Olson.
Doc would often say, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” His life’s work was dedicated to his patients and his employees at his family optometric practice, West Bend Optical, which he opened with his wife in 1992.
Doc viewed everyone as a friend and always led by example with his sense of community, service, gratitude, and comradery. He will be remembered by his keen sense of humor, his bright smile and energetic vitality, and his unparalleled compassion.
Doc is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra (née Hosfield); children, Athena Olson, April Lionheart (née Olson), Dr. Angela Dorigatti (née Olson), and Joshua Olson. He is further survived by patients and friends.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A Eulogy Service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will conclude at Genesee Village Cemetery in Mukwonago, WI at 2:45 p.m.
