About Leonard J. Yahr County Park

Owned by the Carl Erler family since the late 1800’s the property was used as a sawmill that was eventually converted into a sulfur match factory in the late 1870’s.  In 1943, when Leonard and Ruth Yahr retained ownership, portions of the land were used as a dairy farm and later, as an apple orchard. Yahr County Park opened on August 14, 2007 after the property was donated to the County and construction of the park began in 2005.
