December 13, 2023 – St. Lawrence, WI – What started five years ago with delivery of 300 wreaths has now grown to 828 veteran wreaths. Delivery was this week as volunteers with the Allenton American Legion 483 got in a good workout unloading the semi-trailer that came in ahead of schedule from Columbia Falls, Maine.
The Legion member invite you to join them Saturday, December 16 at 9 a.m. at one of the following cemetery ceremonies: Sacred Heart (Allenton), St. Mathias (Nabob), SS Peter & Paul (Nenno), St. Anthony, St. Lawrence, Zion (Hwy D), St. John (Beaver Dam Rd / WW), and St. Peter (Beaver Dam Road), St. Peter (old & new), Union, Diefenbach Corners, Faith, St. John, St. Paul, Cedar Creek, Rosenheimer and Faith (Ackerville).
If you purchased a veteran wreath to pick up for a veteran located outside the 18 cemeteries covered by Allenton American Legion Post 483, you can pick up on Saturday, December 16 between 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Allenton American Legion Post, 419 Railroad St, Allenton, Wisconsin
Allenton Legion Post 486 will conduct the ceremonies, at all the cemeteries mentioned above, at the same time – 9 a.m.
We’ll never forget the brave veterans who serve and protect our country. Laying a wreath on the gravesite of our local veterans is one small act we can do to ensure our veterans are not forgotten.
Allenton American Legion received over 800 wreaths.
There were 15 semi loads on three different days that went to Arlington National Cemetery, 88,695 wreaths per day at Arlington for a total of 266,085 wreaths.
Veteran Vince Strupp of St. Lawrence also made the trip and helped deliver wreaths to Arlington.
The Allenton American Legion will be distributing the wreaths for pickup on Saturday, December 16. Wreaths will be placed at veterans graves in cemeteries across Washington County.
