Witte’s summer crew headed back to school; vegetable season update | By Gus Witte

August 29, 2023 – West Bend, WIWitte’s Vegetable Market, LLC, 2313 County Hwy NN, West Bend, WI, is seeing one season of produce shift to the next. I hope all of you are able to enjoy this beautiful crisp fall feeling day. It is a reminder that summer is winding down and my favorite time of year is coming. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up on where we sit with our vegetable crops season-wise.

This will be our eighth and last week of production for pickles. Dad is tired of picking daily and our summer crew is headed back to school, so it is time to focus energy elsewhere.
Pick-your-own tomatoes will start this week on Wednesday and will be $.85 a lb. Watch for a more detailed produce/vegetable post on Wednesday.
New to the store this week is winter squash. We will be starting with acorn, mashed potato, and spaghetti varieties. Butternut is at least two weeks out.
Finally, these are the last consistent days for corn. Looks like we may make it to Wednesday or Thursday. We still may have corn this season but it will be awhile. Thank you as always and we look forward to seeing you on the farm.
