July 6, 2017 – West Bend, WI – A restored 1958 430 John Deere tractor is to be raffled off on October 24 at the Wisconsin Antique Power Reunion club meeting and will go to a lucky person that purchases a ticket; alternatively, the winner may choose to take $2,000 cash. This 430 is a highly collective tractor (see photos in various stages of restoration) with power steering, new tires, rebuilt gauges by Evergreen Restoration, new air-lock sheet metal bolts by Bill Miller, new wiring, and sheet metal paint by Obermeyer 41 body shop.
This tractor was purchased by club member Bob Redig, now deceased, in 1999 at an auction in Illinois, and the club purchased it from him. It was restored by club members and raffled off in 2000. Club member Bob Kaul won the 430 at that time and began to show it locally. After Bob passed away, his son, Jim, offered it to the club to buy back, which they did.
After sitting in a barn for several years uncovered there was damage to the paint from bird droppings and it acquired leaks from seals in hydraulics, power steering leaks, and other miscellaneous repairs needed. Club member, Bill Hinckley states, “In 1999 we didn’t replace the rear tires, but this time we replaced with new. Everything was repainted and repaired with sheet metal painting done by Obermeyer 41 Garage and rims.” The rest of tractor was painted by Hinckley, himself, who also did the restoration work in 1999.
This highly collective tractor will be won by a lucky ticket purchaser on October 24, 2017 @ 8:00 p.m.; buy your ticket for this priceless tractor with a solid history today.
