January 11, 2024 – Washington County, WI – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch from Friday morning to Saturday morning for the following counties:
Washington, Ozaukee, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Dodge, Marquette, Green Lake, Sauk, Columbia, Iowa, Dane, Jefferson, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Lafayette, Green, Rock, Walworth, Racine and Kenosha.

Storm information from the NWS:
* WHAT…Heavy snow with accumulations of 6 or more inches possible. Winds gusts of 40 to 50 mph could result in significant impacts from blowing and drifting snowfall, especially Friday afternoon into Friday night.
* WHERE…Portions of east central, south central and southeast Wisconsin.
* WHEN…From Friday morning through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions may impact the morning commute and will likely impact the evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…There is the potential for lower amounts for lakeshore areas during the day Friday with onshore winds, with colder conditions and more northerly winds arriving by the evening hours.

Snowfall will move in from the southwest to the northeast this evening starting around 7-10 PM CST and continuing into Thursday morning. Total snow accumulations from the storm around 1-3 inches are expected.
A narrow band of moderate snow is expected across southwest Wisconsin which could bring locally higher amounts up to 4 inches. Untreated roads may be slick and snow covered for the Thursday morning commute. Please exercise caution if driving overnight.
