Take a look at the intersection of 18th Avenue and Highway 33 in West Bend. There’s a Walgreens, McDonald’s, Sendik’s, Fleet Farm and now plans to put a Starbucks in the mix.
Why would Fleet Farm ever want to leave? This is a diamond corner with some of the biggest-name franchises in the U.S.
High volume of traffic with super visibility.
There have been thoughts that Fleet Farm is a dated store in a tired building, but until the new corporate owners are ready to make an investment in a facelift or a new store – how could Fleet Farm be in any better location?
Long-time Benders know there is a rather large parcel of property a bit further west on Highway 33 at County Road Z that the owners of Fleet Farm did purchase eons ago. That parcel was to be used for a new store but nothing, as of yet, has come to fruition.
Yes, 18th and 33 is a great location, but the store is too small. Any time a customer wants to order a larger item, it has to be delivered to the Mem Falls store. It would be great if Fleet would take over the empty gas station next door and rebuild with a much bigger store.
Fleet knows it can get away with its colonial era, sorry assed excuse for a store. Want proof? Take a look at the parking lot on any day of the week. They also know that we will knock over pregnant women and children to get to their new store no matter where (or whe) they build it. They don’t need their current rock star location. They can resell it at a profit knowing that we’d still shop there if it was located inside of a Starbucks bathroom. We’re being played. It’s time to visit Appleton with pitchforks and torches.
