Menomonee Falls, WI – Sixth grader Tianna Loether of West Bend took 2nd place in the Optimist Club Oratorical Contest at the Zone level based on the theme, “Healing the World Through Optimism.”
Loether, and Menomonee Falls High School Senior, Sara Booher, will advance to the district level with a chance to win a scholarship and then possibly on to the Optimist International Regional/World Championship for a chance to win an additional scholarship of $15,000.
“Tianna did a wonderful job presenting her speech,” said Zone Contest Coordinator Annie Jurczyk. “All contestants have a bright future ahead of them and were very inspiring during this challenging time.”
The Optimist Club of West Bend has been participating in the oratorical contest for four years and has been active in the community since 1990. Other programs and service projects that the club offers to the community include : a student of the month program, the Fran Wajer Scholarship and the community Free Throw Contest.
