May 21, 2019 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend Memorial Day parade and program will be Monday, May 27, 2019.
The parade will step off promptly at 9:30 a.m. from Main and Oak Streets and head north to Hickory Street, west on Hickory to Sixth Avenue ending at the West Bend Memorial Plaza just north of the Old County Courthouse at Fifth Avenue and Poplar Street.
The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Master of Ceremonies World War II Navy veteran Allan Kieckhafer.
Reverend Patrick Heppe of Holy Angels Catholic Church will give the Invocation and Benediction. Korean War veteran Norbert Carter will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
West Bend West Junior Miciah Wallace will recite the Gettysburg Address, with East Freshman Savanna Morris reciting the poem, “In Flanders Field.”
East Freshman Lori Frakes will read the Preamble to the Constitution. Echo taps will be played by Conner Hall and Ben Chapel.
The Memorial Day speaker will be West Bend West High School teacher Scott Mindel.
The program pays honor to the veterans of all wars. Those attending are asked to please turn off their cell phones during the program.
Seating is limited. You are encouraged to bring your own chairs.
Boy Scout Troop 780 will again be selling brats, hot dogs and soda at the plaza.
In case of inclement weather the program will be held inside the Old Courthouse Museum.
