West Bend man, 45, charged with homicide following crash with pedestrian in August 2024

February 11, 2025 – West Bend, WI – Homicide charges have been filed against a 45-year-old West Bend, WI, man in relation to an incident August 9, 2024 where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Highway 33 and Silverbrook Drive.

According to a criminal complaint Tim Deremiah allegedly ran into a 71-year-old West Bend, WI, man on August 9, 2024; the man was hospitalized and later died August 22, 2024 from injuries suffered in that accident.

After the crash Deremiah’s vehicle was impounded and searched by police where they reportedly found a glass smoking pipe and several items with evidence of THC.

Deremiah was in court where he entered not guilty pleas.

Deremiah is facing one felony count of homicide by vehicle use controlled substance, and felony knowingly operating while suspended, along with two misdemeanor drug charges.

If convicted on all charges Deremiah could be sentenced to up to 31.5 years in prison and fines up to $111,500.

A hearing is scheduled for March 24, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. before Judge Michael Kenitz in Washington County Circuit Court.

A reconstruction of the crash occurred after the accident, according to McAndrews, due to the serious injury suffered by the pedestrian.

“Those reports take time for the reconstruction experts to put together,” he said.

The vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic accident occurred on Washington Street at Silverbrook Drive. Police said the operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene.

August 9, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – UPDATE – An update on a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident Friday morning in West Bend, WI.  According to police the 45-year-old West Bend male operator of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.  The 71-year-old West Bend male pedestrian remains hospitalized.
Police also confirmed this is not the ‘West Bend walker.’
August 9, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – One person was injured in a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident Friday morning August 9, 2024, at Highway 33 and Silverbrook Drive in West Bend, WI. Police said the driver of the vehicle remained the scene.  The adult pedestrian was taken to St. Joes and then airlifted to Froedtert in Milwaukee.

The West Bend Police Department is investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic accident that occurred on Washington Street at Silverbrook Drive. There will be road closures and traffic restrictions in the area for the next few hours as the investigation occurs. The operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene and the pedestrian has been transported to the hospital for medical care.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes to help reduce traffic congestion.
