West Bend East Suns edge Brown Deer in girls varsity basketball | By Denny Ziegler

Nov. 19, 2017 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend East Lady Suns varsity basketball team started a new era and new season on a high note as the team used a methodical grind-out approach to notch a 35-30  victory against Brown Deer.

Despite the Lady Suns shooting 23 percent from the field and only 13 percent from behind the arc, the team came up with big defensive stops late in the 2nd half combined with clutch free throws to seal the victory.

The Lady Suns were led in scoring by Auburn Larson with 13 points, while Abby Trinastic added 10.

On the defensive end, Megan Lemke and Abby Trinastic led the Lady Suns in rebounding which really limited the Falcons to a one-and-done situation throughout the evening.

Tiffany Ziegler picked up her first win as the Lady Suns new head coach.

West Bend East JV team also beat Brown Deer JV,  30-16.

West Bend East will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 21 when the team hosts cross-hall rival West Bend West.

JV2 will begin at 5:45 p.m. and varsity will follow. There will be no JV game on Tuesday.

Tuesday will also be Youth Night for the Lady Suns.

Hope to see everyone Tuesday night to cheer on the Suns and Spartans.
