July 10, 2018 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend Common Council approved a Memorandum if Understanding on Monday night to move forward with funding a cooperative agreement to upgrade Carl Kuss Field at Regner Park.
“We are excited for the opportunities a reinvented field brings to our community,” said Mayor Kraig Sadownikow.
”We are proud to stand arm-in-arm with the school district and West Bend Baseball Association  on this project. I believe this is great government in action.”
Approximately 80 percent of the funding, according to Sadownikow, will come from private sources.
The agreement was prompted by a $500,000 grant from the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation.
During a signing of the MOU on May 21, 2018 Sadownikow said, “What it entails is $100,000 in cash from the city and there will be at least $75,000 in work we can do with demolition to the existing field and knocking down the grandstand.  We spend somewhere between $60,000 and $75,000 a year to maintain the field so by eliminating that we’re paying for our investment in two to three years.”
Fundraising for the remaining balance is in the works.
Construction is expected to get underway in August.
