West Bend, WI – The team from West Bend Children’s Theatre took advantage of 50-degree temps and added some Christmas spirit to The Cottages at Cedar Community.
“This annual project of the WBCT board and volunteers is fun, gives us joy and is a team-building exercise, much like a play,” said June Schroeder with the Children’s Theatre.
“The best part of the decorating is the happiness and smiles the lights and decorations give to the residents of Cedar Cottages,” Schroeder said.
The project is coordinated by Jenny Zaskowski – Philanthropy Director at Cedar Community.
“Holidays are fun for all ages, but this season is especially important for our Cedar Community residents as it reminds them of their own life-long family traditions. We had the gift of 10 businesses who offered to come forward and bring the twinkle of the season right to our resident’s room view or common areas where they spend much of their time.
“When you think of ‘home for the holidays,’ Cedar Community is their home. It is easy for us to get caught up in the busyness of the season, but for our residents this is a walk down memory lane when they can watch the community elves in action of decorating and wait with anticipation when the displays shine bright each night.
“It is not uncommon to have seniors waving out their window as the elves decorate or stop outside to say, “thank you.” Holidays are about traditions, sharing Peace-Love-Joy, and this allows us to do just that.”
*This year Cedar Community will have decorations at Cedar Ridge, The Willows, Cedar Bay West, The Cottages and The Lodge.
Watch for the West Bend Children’s Theatre float in the November 26 West Bend Christmas parade with more lights and live characters.
