West Bend Bombers top Monroe Blues 5 – 2 at Kettle Moraine Ice Center

January  7, 2017 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend Bomber (7-1-0) and the Monroe Blues (2-8-0) faced off for the second time this year, at the Kettle Moraine Ice Center. West Bend took game one of the series by a score of 5-3. The Bombers have an all time record against Monroe of 17-6. The Bombers and the Blues will meet four times in the 2016-2017 season.
The West Bend Bombers are currently enjoying a six game winning streak thanks to their excellent 2.6 goals against per game, good for 1st place in the GLHL. In net Friday night, was Bill Sias, who has a (3-0-0) record so far this season, with a 2.67 goals against average and a .930% save percentage. Bill added to that record with the win, facing 46 shots on goal with 44 saves in the Bombers win over Monroe.
Scorers for Friday night’s win were: Steve Klug (1 goal, 1 assist), RJ Rick (1 goal), Tanner Tryggestad (1 short handed goal), Trammell Lynes (1 goal), and Scott Holtz (1 goal-empty net) with 33.5 seconds left in the game. Players gaining points for assists were: Tomas Jilemenicky with 2 assists, Dave Brienzo, Cole Weiser, Shay Klitzke, Dan Shilts and Dusty Jonasson with 1 assist each.
West Bend Bombers and the Kettle Moraine Ice Center will be host to the 2017 GLHL Tournament March 31 – April 2, 2017. Tournament schedule will be set after the last game of the regular season. Follow the West Bend Bombers on Facebook for schedule updates.
The Bombers take on the Mosinee Papermakers on January 14, 2017, 8:00 pm at the Kettle Moraine Ice Center (2330 S. Main, West Bend). The Bombers will be having a teddy bear toss, with the bears going to the Washington County Boys and Girls club. Admission will be $3 if you bring a teddy bear to toss on the ice.
