We Energies customers can weigh in on rate increase today

October 9, 2023 – Washington Co., WI – Concerned about a change in your We Energy rate – weigh in today. We Energies customers can expect to see higher utility bills in 2024, according to proposals submitted to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. At 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. today, October 9, 2023, We Energies will be holding a public hearing in-person hearing Clinton Rose Senior Center, 3045 N. King Dr. or on Zoom.

“Wisconsin Electric Power Co. and Wisconsin Gas LLC (doing business as We Energies) filed a proposal on April 28, 2022, with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to set 2023 rates for electric, natural gas, and steam utility operations.” – We Energies

We Energies is proposing a 1.6% residential rate increase.

The rate changes are to cover new investments in infrastructure such as renewable energy.

According to We Energies:

At the Public Hearing session, the Commission shall receive comments from the
public. To comment at this session, a member of the public may either:
(1) Attend any physical location as noticed for this session; or
(2) Join Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/my/pschearings

If you’re unable to attend today’s hearings, comments will be accepted through Oct. 16, 2023.

The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) criticizes the request to increase rates, saying profits for We Energies have been too high for too long, with customers paying the price.
