September 15, 2024 – Mequon WI – The West Bend West JV 2 volleyball team had a clean sweep against the Homestead Highlanders.
It was a close game, the first match with a score of 25-22. A close game but the Spartans pushed through for the win.
In the second set the Highlanders took a lead in the beginning but the Spartans came back and secured the win, 25-21.
In the third set the Spartans began to run quicks and managed to take the win, 25-15. Samantha Kelly got a kill off one of Alexis Bautz’s quicks.
Kennedy Deppert is a freshman at West Bend West. She knows communication was key in this game against Homestead. “At first we didn’t have good communication, but throughout the game it got better and better. Coverage is also really important because Homestead liked to tip a lot.”
Izzy Koepsell is a freshman at West Bend West. She said serves needed improvement. The Spartans overall had amazing serves that the highlanders defense had trouble receiving and were aces.
The Spartans ended the night with 30 digs, 21 assists, 22 kills, and 9 aces. The Spartans next match is Tuesday, September 17 at Hartford.
