Matt Stoll, a West High School senior who is a cross country and track athlete, was selected for the 2016 WIAA Scholar Athlete Award.
Stoll is among only 32 student athletes in the state to receive this prestigious recognition, 16 senior boys and 16 senior girls.
“These student athletes’ accomplishments are incredible,” said Tom Shafranski, assistant director of the WIAA.
“Sixteen of this year’s 32 WIAA Scholar Athlete finalists have a grade point average of 4.0 to date, while the average GPA is 3.90. All 32 scholar athlete finalists have already earned a total of 296 letters during their first 3 ½ years of high school. That’s an average of nine letters per athlete, and we have not completed our spring sports season.”
More than 820 seniors were nominated for the 2016 WIAA Scholar Athletes Award by 420 high schools throughout the state.
