June 24, 2024 – Dodge Co., WI – During the morning hours of Saturday June 22, 2024, investigators from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office were able to continue the investigation into what occurred during this incident. The investigation led to the arrest of Joshua Daniel, 38, of rural Watertown.
The subject was booked into the jail on a hold placed by the Department of Corrections Division of Community Corrections, and he was booked on charges of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and Substantial/Aggravated Battery.
The subject had his initial appearance in Dodge County Circuit Court after being charged by the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office and is currently being held in the Dodge County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond. Of course, all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The victim remains in stable condition and is recovering from her injuries. This case is a tremendous reminder of how dangerous domestic violence can be and why the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office takes domestic violence incidents very seriously. June 22, 2024 – Dodge Co., WI – At 5:13 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 36-year-old female, of rural Watertown, who was seriously injured with multiple serious laceration wounds at an address on County Q in the town of Shields.
Deputies arrived on scene and removed the female from danger, rescuing her and turning her over to Watertown Paramedics for immediate treatment and transport to Aurora Medical Center in Summit. The female is currently in stable condition at the time of this release.
Deputies immediately were able to secure the area and set up a perimeter around the home.
The suspect, age 38 of rural Watertown, remained barricaded inside a residence until 12:16 a.m. on June 22, 2024, when Dodge County Sheriff’s Office SWAT was able to make entry and take him into custody.
This was made possible with the assistance of Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Watertown Police ERT, and equipment loaned and operated by the Fond du Lac Police Department.
Sheriff Dale Schmidt would like to stress to the public how proud the community should be of all who were involved in this incident.
Communications officers obtained and relayed vital information quickly and accurately. Responding deputies performed lifesaving efforts putting themselves in harm’s way to perform those lifesaving efforts while simultaneously ensuring that the suspect was not able to flee from the scene protecting the public.
Tactical teams worked together to slowly and methodically approach and take a dangerous subject into custody who was believed to be armed and dangerous. Great care was taken to ensure the subject was taken into custody without unnecessary risk to him or our law enforcement staff.
This case remains under investigation and the individual is currently being provided treatment by medical staff. Once he is medically cleared and interviews conducted, determinations will be made on appropriate charges against the perpetrator.
