August 22, 2019 – West Bend, WI – The Washington County Historical Society is thrilled to announce WCHS Curator of Collections and Exhibits Janean Van Beckum has received the National Endowment for the Humanities Preservation Assistance Grant.
This grant will provide funds for a professional conservator to purchase and install environmental monitors in the Old Courthouse and Old Jailhouse Museums. Included in the grant is one year of monitoring and staff training.
Environmental monitoring is key to helping WCHS care for its collection of over 35,000 artifacts, over 17,000 photographs and 800 cubic feet of archives.
Only around 35% of the submitted grants are funded each year.
