Jan. 27, 2019 – Washington Co., WI – After close consultation with Chairman Kriefall, Sheriff Schulteis, Commissioner Schmidt, District Attorney Bensen, Judge Gonring and several others, I am making the following announcement:
Washington County operations will be closed Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 due to an anticipated heavy snow event with likely dangerous driving conditions. All non-essential employees are excused from work and are asked to remain at home in order to stay safe during this inclement weather period. This includes all Justice Center employees as well.
Some employees are required to report to work, or to remain at work, during an emergency even when the rest of the County employees have been excused from work in situations such as this. These are the employees who are engaged in emergency, weather-related, or essential operations. If you are in one of these positions, you will be expected to report to work as scheduled. If you are unsure if you are in one of these positions, please contact your supervisor.
We continue to closely monitor the weather situation for the rest of the week. At this time, no decision has been made whether to alter County operations on any day other than Monday. Any announcement on closing or delayed operations throughout the rest of the week will be available to employees through email, and through radio and television stations. Employees should check these designated sources for official announcements.
IT Help Desk will be available for phone forwarding or other technical assistance as needed.
