A 38-year-old woman from the Town of Erin was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Donegal Road west of County Highway K in the Town of Erin.
Washington County Sheriff’s responded at 1:58 a.m. along with Hartford Fire Department and rescue.
Authorities said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, as a result of the crash. A 38-year-old Town of Erin man was critically injured, and transported by Flight for Life to Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc.
Deputies said the car was being driven west bound on Donegal Road, completely left the paved roadway to the right, and struck a tree head on.
The crash is still under investigation, but alcohol, speed, and lack of seat belts were believed to be contributing factors.
This is the first traffic fatality in Washington County this year.
