Demolition of the former Washington County Senior Center on E. Washington Street gets underway today. The county is razing two buildings, the Senior Center and Annex II.
In January, http://www.washingtoncountyinsider.com was the only media to report on the county’s plans.
Plans have been in the works for about a year as the county started looking at capital improvement projects.
“They’re just costing us money to keep them,” County Administrator Joshua Schoemann said. “The expense is around $20,000 to $40,000 a year; most of it is for boiler heat and some staff maintenance.”
After the former Senior Center is razed, demolition crews will move across the parking lot and begin razing Annex II.
