OWI Failure to Yield

Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 5:24 pm the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle traveling northbound on US 45 in the area of Hy 145.  The caller indicated the driver was swerving across both lanes of traffic and struck several construction barrels. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the Cty Tk NN overpass.  The vehicle was traveling 35 mph in the left lane.  The vehicle sped up to approximately 55mph and failed to pull over for 2.5 miles with the deputy following with emergency lights and siren activated. The driver, identified as a 54-year-old Town of Barton man, indicated he did not see or hear the squad following close behind him.  The deputy noted the driver’s window was open during the contact.  The driver eventually stopped in the area of Hy 33/W. Washington St.  He was arrested for OWI 3rd offense as well as failure to yield to law enforcement. He remains in custody at the Sheriff’s Office.

Domestic

A 43-year-old Town of Barton man was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and 2nd degree reckless endangerment after an altercation with a relative at a home in the 4800 block of Beaver Dam Rd.  The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at 8:28pm.  The investigation revealed the suspect had threatened to kill himself as well as the relative during a dispute.  He was also reported to have pointed a BB or pellet gun at the relative’s head during the altercation.  Prior to the deputies’ arrival that evening the subject fled the scene on foot.  Deputies spent the next four hours actively searching for the suspect to no avail.   This morning, deputies again responded to the residence as were able to take the subject into custody without incident.  He also remains in custody at the Sheriff’s Office.
