October 19, 2020 – Village of Kewaskum, WI – The project to paint a mural on the side of a building in the Village of Kewaskum started last week. The idea was to bring a little bit of the Kettle Moraine to Main Street.
On Sunday afternoon artist Irineo Medina braved some chilly temps to bring his vision near completion.
Katie Markeland is one of the organizers of the project.
“We are painting a mural on the wall of the building located at 143 Main St, Kewaskum,” she said. Below is a photo from when the project got underway.
“This mural started October 14, 2020 and will be completed by Tuesday, October 20. This mural is being done to bring some cheerful color to our community for everyone to enjoy. It’s right along the Eisenbahn trail so lots of people will be able to view it.”
Markeland credited volunteers with helping prime the wall.
“We wanted something that was very Kewaskum with prairie, plants and flowers,” she said.
Artist Irineo Medina from the Fox Cities started working on the project last week.
Medina is familiar with the area as he worked on an abstract project on the south wall of West Bend Tap + Tavern in West Bend.
The artwork is just to the west of the Eisenbahn State Trail off Highway 28 and Main Street.
