April 9, 2018 – West Bend, WI – Members of the West Bend High School Synchronized Swim Team spoke before the West Bend School Board on Monday night, pleading their case about their upcoming show.
For the past 55 years there has been a synchronized swim show performed by students at the high school. There are over 70 students involved and aside from music, swim and dance there’s an accompanying light show.
Members of the Dolphins were told last Friday they could not turn the lights off during this year’s performance.
Members of the club detailed how their routines are choreographed to music and lights. They said they have a great safety record and while they do turn the lights off for the performance the area is not pitch black.
Board members were unclear why the decision was made to keep the lights and will discuss the issue during a committee meeting this week.
This year’s show theme is “Dolphins in Love.”
All songs and routines are about love, marriage, or breaking up.
Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 12 – 14 at 7 p.m. and there’s a matinee show Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
Adults $10 Students (ages 6-17) $8 Seniors $6 Children (under 5) $3.
Nice job with the speech, girls! You persuaded me! Let’s continue the 54 year long accident-free tradition of performing with the lights out.
