July 28, 2019 – West Bend, WI – The third annual Art & Chalk Fest presented by the Museum of Wisconsin Art wrapped up Sunday afternoon with a great turnout and fabulous artists according to MOWA marketing director Jessica Wildes.
“We also had a really great team of volunteers,” she said.
Winners from the chalk portion of the festival included Kimberly Wood from St. Joseph, Michigan who recreated a piece by Canadian artist Sophie Wilkins.
Wilkins website describes her work as, “A fanciful universe where humans and animals live together, become confused and form a balance to achieve the Unity.”
The other chalk art winner is a familiar face as Kaylee Goodman from Hartford also took home top prize. Goodman is a self-taught chalk artist. She got a bit of a reality check Sunday morning and found a portion of her chalk art had been damaged overnight by rain.
Goodman fought through some tears, regrouped and finished strong with a portrait of country music legend Dolly Parton.
Be sure to come out to MOWA on Monday, July 29 at 9 a.m. for the final chapter of Art & Chalk Fest as the West Bend Fire Department teams with junior firefighters to wash away the chalk so it does not stain the pavement.
That event is free and open to the public. Click HERE to see last year’s ceremonial wash.
