April 26, 2020 – Washington Co., WI – The Hartford Medical Center Foundation has teamed with some generous bakers in the community and together they’re dropping off sweet treats to show their appreciation to the trucking firms in Washington County.
Deb Holtan dropped off a box filled with peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies and oatmeal and raisin this week to Double J Transport in Jackson.
“We tried making a donation of homemade food to the health care workers but they said they couldn’t accept it… considering COVID-19. So we thought what else could we do,” said Holtan. “I called a few trucking companies because they’re being challenged with the areas they can stop and get food.”
To date the Trucker’s Treats have been dropped off at 17 area trucking firms across Washington County. “Our bakers are awesome in the community and they truly want to say thank you and they appreciate the work they’re doing,” said Holtan.
“This makes us feel good that we’re recognized a little bit and we really appreciate the donation,” said Jerome Fechter, owner of Double J Transport. “The drivers will really enjoy this.”
