September 27, 2019 – Washington Co., WI – Over 500 volunteers gathered at Washington County Fair Park this week to take part in the United Way of Washington County campaign kickoff.
The goal was to package 85,000 meals of soup in one afternoon. The assembly-line process involved combining dry goods of peas, corn, chicken broth and rice into cellophane packets, seal it, label it and box it.
Volunteers from local school districts, civic organizations and businesses rallied at 6 p.m. as kickoff to the Packers vs. Eagles game drew near. With cheers of encouragement and strong leadership the teams exceeded their goal with over 100,000 packaged meals.
