VIDEO | Stories from the sisters who taught at St. Frances Cabrini

Oct. 31, 2017 – West Bend, WI – It was quite the reunion for some of the former faculty at St. Frances Cabrini as students from more than 40 years ago stopped in to greet the nuns that helped guide them through their formative years in school.

Sr. Marianne, Sr. Jolene and Sr. Jean Hasenberg reveled in the moment.

Sr. Jean was principal at St. Frances Cabrini from 1968-78. “This was the place I loved the most of all the places I taught and was principal,” she said.  “It had a wonderful faculty and there were 585 children in school when I got here and I had to teach all day except one hour. Finally after two years of being principal I got a secretary.”

St. Jean is now 86 years old and suffers macular degeneration. “The students had to recognize me and it was a thrill to be back,” she said.

Sr. Jolene taught first grade and said her fond memories were of “the children themselves and the sharing they did…. such a gift.”
