Jordan Stolz drops races to prepare for World Speed Skating Single Distances Championship in Hamar, Norway

March 2, 2025 – Kewaskum, WI – It is coming down to strategy now with the ISU World Cup and Jordan Stolz as he enters the final weeks of the season. Stolz and his coach Bob Corby have decided to scratch competing Saturday and Sunday in Heerenveen as they prepare for the ISU World Speed Skating Single Distances Championship in Hamar, Norway, March 13 – 16, 2025.

According to Corby, Stolz has already dominated and secured the 1500m World Cup Trophy with 5 consecutive gold medals and a silver.

“He isn’t sick. His legs are very tired from racing and training,” said Corby. “He already has the overall points wrapped up for 3 distances so we decided to start resting for Worlds now instead of Monday. He won’t skate tomorrow (Sunday) either.“

So far in Harenveen this weekend, Stolz finished with a silver medal in the 500m, behind Jenning De Boo of the Netherlands.

De Boo has been a formidable opponent for Stolz. He’s been nipping at his heels the entire season, sometimes coming in second place by a hundredth of a second. De Boo, performing in front of a home crowd, secured gold with a 34.18 first-place finish. Stolz was .09 behind with a 34.27 finish.  Below an interview with De Boo about his pursuit of Stolz.

In the 1500m race, Stolz finished in fifth place, but had enough collective points on the season to win the World Cup Trophy.

Stolz is coming off a challenging February as he was sick with strep and pneumonia. Corby is hoping the two additional days off will help Stolz as he prepares for the ISU World Speed Skating Single Distance Championship.

 

February 22, 2025 – Speed skater Jordan Stolz picked up where he left off as he secured two more gold medals at the ISU World Cup in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland. Stolz set a new track record in the 1,500m, finishing with a time of 1:45.085, just .004 hundredths of a second ahead of Norway’s Peder Kongshaug who secured a silver with a time of 1:45.089.

Lap results show Stolz was 10th out of a field of 20 in the first 300m of the 1500m. It was his final lap that pushed him to a gold-medal finish.

At the start of the competition, Stolz finished a top the platform again with a solid 34.49 in the 500m edging Laurent Dubreuil of Canada (34.73) and South Korea’s Kim Jun-ho (34.77).

Lap results show Stolz in the middle of the pack in the first 100m but it was the kick at the end that put him in first place.

Stolz is on tap for the 1000m on Saturday. The 20-year-old holds the world record with a time of 1:05.37 set January 26, 2024.

Three weeks ago, while skating the ISU World Cup in Milwaukee, Stolz took gold in the 1000m with a time of 1:06,16.

The track record in the 1000m in Poland is 1:08.52 set by Wesly Dijs of the Netherlands in February 2023. Click HERE to watch that race.

Saturday Stolz will skate in the 8th pair against Martin Liiv of Estonian.

February 3, 2025 – Milwaukee, WI – “It was bound to happen at some point,” said Jordan Stolz after his second-place finish in the 500m on Sunday at the close of the ISU World Cup in Milwaukee.

Prior to Sunday, Stolz racked up 22 gold-medal finishes in a row. The 20-year-old from Kewaskum took the silver in stride, analyzing his performance and leaning into technique as the reasons he missed out on a 23rd straight victory.

“I just wish I would have skated the second turn better,” said Stolz. “It’s hard to skate a perfect race every time.”

Stolz came off the start with a 9.6 in the first 100m of the 500m compared to Tatsuya Shinhama of Japan who started with a 9.5. The pair were neck and neck down the final stretch however Shinhama slipped across the finish just .05 ahead of Stolz.

Through a translator Shinhama said “It was a pleasure to race against Jordan Stolz because coming back from an injury, it was a big step to achieve the win.”

Stolz entered the World Cup in Milwaukee coming off a 3-day World Cup in Calgary just a week ago where he took gold in the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m. With little time between events, he secured three more gold at the Pettit National Ice Center before winning silver in the second running of the 500m Sunday.

“I’m feeling really strong right now,” he said. “It’s three weeks until the next world cup and that will be a good training block to get in before Poland and that will set me up perfectly for the World Championships.”

Canadian Laurent Dubreuil, who finished in the winner’s circle twice over the weekend, said it would be hard to be Stolz and have a perfect race all the time.

On Saturday, Stolz set a new track record in the 500m, breaking his old record of 34.07 set January 4, 2025. Hist new record was 33.91.

Also Saturday, Stolz set a new track record in the 1500m with a gold-medal time of 1:41.46. Click HERE for the results.

On Friday, Stolz set a new track record in the 1000m and finished in first place with a time of 1:06,16 beating his previous record of 1:07,12.

The next ISU World Cup is 21 – 23 February 2025 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki (POL)
followed by ISU World Cup 28 February – 2 March 2025 in Heerenveen (NED).

February 2, 2025 – Milwaukee, WI – It’s the final day of the ISU World Cup in Milwaukee and speed skater Jordan Stolz of Kewaskum will have one last stab at breaking another track record. Behind the scenes, it’s a whirlwind of activity for friends, fans and organizers. Below is a video of highlights from the last two days featuring generational skater Jordan Stolz.

There were plenty of familiar faces from Kewaskum and Washington County at the Pettit National Ice Center over the weekend and Stolz did not disappoint.

 

– In the 500m Stolz took first place skating a sub 34 with a finish time of 33,91. “I felt really comfortable and I had a really good first step off the line,” said Stolz. “I focused on not rushing too much in the first 30 meters and getting down with good pushes and I could feel the speed when I was crossing the line and I figured he (Jenning De Boo – Netherlands) would go 9,6 and I couldn’t see him in my peripheral vision so I thought I was good. Coming out of the exit of the turn I couldn’t see him so I attacked just as hard as I could.” De Boo finished in second with a time of 34.28.

– In the 1500m Stolz also broke his track record 1:42,31 and finished with a gold-medal time of 1:41.46. Click HERE for the results. February 1, 2025 – Milwaukee, WI – Make it back-to-back first-place finishes and new track records for Kewaskum phenom Jordan Stolz. In front of a sold-out crowd at the Pettit National Ice Center, the 20-year-old Stolz skated a sub :34 race in the 500m and broke his own track record with a gold-medal finish of 33,91.

This is Stolz 20th win in a row in the current World Cup season.

Coming up next the 1500m. Stolz skates in the 9th pair. He owns the track record at 1:42,31 and his personal best is 1:40,87.

February 1, 2025 – Milwaukee, WI – Opening night of the ISU World Cup in Milwaukee was one for the record books as Jordan Stolz broke his own 1000m track record in the final race of the evening at the Pettit National Ice Center. Skating against teammate Cooper McLeod, Stolz knocked down an impressive .16 first lap and finished with a time of 1:06,16 beating his previous record of 1:07,12.

Analyzing his performance after the race Stolz said his strong points were the beginning and the end. “I think the opener and the last lap, if you put that together was probably the strongest parts of the race,” he said. “It’s my fastest opener ever I think that’s my best at sea level, and I just felt really good.”

The ISU picked Milwaukee as the host of the World Cup because of Stolz and his quick rise in the international spotlight. Stolz said he was looking forward to skating in front of hometown fans and they didn’t disappoint.

“They were really energetic towards me,” he said. “It was nice to see even in the warmup before I even raced, I mean can you hear them especially when they’re this close.”

Milwaukee, Wi – Dressed in his dark blue race suit speed skater Jordan Stolz took a couple of relaxed laps at the Pettit National Ice Center as fans started to filter in for the opening night of the ISU World Cup in Milwaukee.

Stolz is the primary draw this weekend as he has set the speed skating world on fire with consistent record times that are drawing international attention.

Friday night, Stolz skates the 1000m race. He is the 10th pair in the lineup skating against teammate Cooper McLeod.

Stolz holds the current 1000m track record of 1:07.12 and has the World Record with a time of 1:05.37.

On his heels tonight will be Dutch skater Jenning De Boo whose personal best in the 1000m is 1:06.05. De Boo finished with the silver last weekend in Calgary just .02 seconds behind Stolz.

In Calgary, Stolz notched his 18th straight win and set another track record in the 1000m at the Olympic Oval with a time of 1:05.90.

On a side note: Olympic gold medalists Dan Jansen and Bonnie Blair have been spotted at the Pettit.

“I saw Jordan in the parking lot when I was coming in,” said Jansen. “To see another actual Phenom come along is really special; he’s so be fun to watch as he goes toward next year (2026 Winter Olympics). I mean he’s a once in a generation for sure, that’s how good he is.”

  • Stolz has won 19 straight gold medals so far this World Cup season. The record for straight first-place finishes is 23.
  • Stolz’s parents were in Calgary and they’re at the Pettit this weekend.

Milwaukee, WI – Fans from Washington County, Wi will be cheering on their hometown hero this weekend as Jordan Stolz is one of 300 skaters from around the world participating in the ISU World Cup at the Pettit National Ice Center.
Stolz met with the media on Thursday afternoon and fielded questions about his track records, the 19-race win streak, and how it feels to prep for the Winter Olympics in 2026.

The World Cup begins Friday afternoon as doors open at 4 p.m. and racing gets underway at 5 p.m.  Tickets have sold out for Saturday and Sunday.

Stolz will participate in the 1000m race on Friday. He holds the current track record of 1:07.12. Stolz holds the World Record in the 1000m with a time of 1:05.37.

He will race in the 1500m on Saturday and the 500m on Sunday.

Stolz record in the 1500m is 1.42.319, which he set in the US Championships in October 2023.

Stolz holds the record in the 500m at the Pettit. He beat South Korean skater Jun-Ho Kim’s track record of 34.59 in 2022. Stolz crossed the finish with a time of 34.55. Stolz’s personal best is 33.69 seconds in the 500m.

Aside from Olympic gold skaters in attendance at the Pettit this weekend there will be local Olympians including Eric Heiden, Dan Jansen, Shani Davis, Bonnie Blair, and rumor has it boxer Jake Paul may also be in attendance as his girlfriend is Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam.
