Slinger, WI – Students in Tech Ed at Slinger High School are getting a leg up as they enter the workforce thanks to donations from the Slinger-Allenton Rotary. On March 7 neighbors will have a chance to support STEM education by attending the John McGivern performance, “An Evening with John McGivern.”
Over the years the Slinger-Allenton Rotary has donated equipment such as CNC machinery to help advance the skillset of students looking to get jobs in engineering and mechanics. “The equipment has been a game changer,” said Tech Ed instructor Matt Hansen.
“I’m a machinist apprentice in Richfield and I learn better working hands-on with the machine itself,” said Brandon Paulson, 17. “This equipment in our shops is very helpful with gaining experience and it’s like a real workplace.”
Payton Tradwell, 15, likes welding. “I know what I’m doing, I’m not just watching a video,” she said. “I don’t have to just see it; I can actually fully do it.”
“The equipment we donated is very impressive and it feels great to have the kids get a better experience,” said Rotarian Carla Dunn. “The equipment gives students a cutting edge to get a job in the real world. Hopefully they’re excited to come to school.
“We’re blessed to have our beautiful PAC and people should come support the Rotary and support our children’s future.”
Join the Slinger-Allenton Rotary for a night of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories during “An Evening with John McGivern.”
When you attend “An Evening with John McGivern,” you’re not just enjoying a great show – you’re making a difference. This event supports local initiatives like the Slinger High School Tech Ed department.
