December 18, 2019 – West Bend, WI – It’s been described as “one of the best concerts of the year in West Bend.”
The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra was in town Tuesday night for the 47th Anniversary Holiday Pops Concert brought to you by West Bend Columns.
Under the direction of conductor Yaniv Dinur the program began promptly at 7:30 p.m. before a sold-out auditorium. Musicians jumped into the first piece Christmas Canticles and then Dance of the Tumblers from The Snow Maiden.
A selection from Johann Sebastian Bach was next with Sheep May Safely Graze, from Cantata 208 followed by a piece from Tchaikovsky’s, The Nutcracker.
A montage from The Sound of Music wowed the audience. “The Nutcracker and The Sound of Music just touched my heart and it was so magical,” said Patricia Puestow.
Prior to the break the orchestra dove into a couple familiar holiday pieces with Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and Winter Wonderland by Felix Bernard.
A spokesperson with Columns said “We were at capacity with 1,058 and it was the first time ever we did not have tickets available at the door to sell. This was a wonderful problem and the money supports all the kids.”
