July 21, 2021 – Washington Co., WI – It was a big day Tuesday at the Washington County Fair as the animals made their grand entrance. Cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits and horses were all moooving into their new quarters.
Allison Loosen is a junior with Slinger FFA. “We had to build a ramp for the pigs because they’re the toughest to get out of the trailers,” she said.
For many in 4H and FFA the livestock day at the fair starts at 5 a.m. to gather the animals, clean them, feed them and load them into the trailer.
Moving the steer was a big part of the show Tuesday morning. The animals are Goliath in size, some weighting over 1,400 pounds.
The meat animal sale is Thursday, July 22 starting at 6 p.m. at the Washington County Fair.
