February 27, 2022 – Markesan, WI – It was a sunny afternoon but brisk with temps in the low 20s as friends and family of Major Brenda J. Fiegel gathered at Fairwater Cemetery to pay their final respects.
A flag-draped coffin was carried to its final resting place. Rev. Jason Jobs presided over the final reading. Two members of the US Army in full military dress blues folded the US flag and presented it to Fiegel’s husband Adrian Poveda.
A second flag was presented to her parents James and Charlotte Fiegel.
The local color guard presented the US flag and a 3-round volley followed by Taps.

Fiegel enlisted in the United States Army in December of 2002, becoming a United States Army Commissioned Intelligence Officer, earning the following decorations, medals, and badges: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, and Rifle Bar.
She was also honored by the President and the Ambassador of Costa Rica for her duties performed. She had many articles published regarding the work done regarding terrorism.
Major Brenda Fiegel died February 13 2022; she was 41.
