Hartford, WI – Horizon Outfitters, 28 E. Jackson Street, in Hartford, WI is a new outdoor adventure and survival company. The store carries gear to camp, hike, backpack, paddle, climb, fish and archery.
Owner Bob Ott, 48, is a dedicated outdoor enthusiast. A self-described hiker, camper, climber, Ott cannot get enough of bonding with Mother Nature. “I love the outdoors and I can see myself being a ranger,” he said.
Having recently relocated from California, Ott spent a lot of time hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) which runs from Mexico to Canada. “We were on that trail every weekend,” he said. “During hiking season, we were doing trail magic where we would help hikers coming through the PCT.”
Ott was known to disappear on the PCT on a regular basis. “I’d leave on a Wednesday, grab my pack and be gone through the weekend,” he said. “We were an hour away from the mountains, Joshua Tree and Yosemite. There were so many things to see, and I wanted to see it all.”

Mosey into Horizon Outfitters and you’ll find yourself half-way home to being one with the relaxing outdoors. Ott has high-end gear for a reasonable price including clothing (featuring plus sizes), nutrition, long-term food storage, first aid and other survival tools.
Ott has the expert knowledge and passion to set every adventurer up for a comfortable outdoor experience. “My favorite product is the Exped sleeping mat,” he said. “The weight is 10.6 ounces; they’re a little beefier but it is the most comfortable air mattress I’ve ever slept on, and it has a high R-value which means will be insulated up to 20 degrees below zero.”
