May 15, 2019 – West Bend, WI – Some excitement in West Bend at TOCHI Ramen, 705 Village Green Way, as film crews from Discover Wisconsin were in town Tuesday to begin taping for a segment set to air in May 2020.
Show co-host Mariah Haberman said she was new to West Bend and after TOCHI the show was headed to the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
TOCHI owner Gregg Des Rosier said he was approached by the show. “The camera guy said everyone in Madison was aware of us and I think they’ll find a unique experience in a small town; it’s not real common to find authentic Japanese ramen in a town our size,” he said.
Discover Wisconsin is known as the “longest-running tourism TV show in the country.” It started in 1987 and is in its 32nd season.
“The idea behind the show is to move the needle in these local economies across Wisconsin,” Haberman said. “The idea for this episode is for people to learn about West Bend and then go online and book a trip and spend money at the local businesses.”
“Typically, what we do is film one, half-hour show over the next several months,” said Haberman. “The show won’t actually air until the last week in May 2020.”
