May 21, 2020 – West Bend, WI – One of the most popular kid events of the summer in the City of West Bend has been cancelled for 2020. A release issued by the City detailed the cancellation of several annual events including the Dirty Ninja Mud Run for Kids.
“We’re following the County Health Department’s Blueprint as our guide to safely offering recreational programs, facilities and activities,” said City Administrator Jay Shambeau. “Our team is committed to delivering a wide variety of spring and summer opportunities that support the health and happiness of our community.”
In adherence with the County’s recommendation for municipalities to follow the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department’s Blueprint for Reopening FAQ, several major City events are cancelled, including athletic tournaments, Memorial Day Parade, Regner Fest, Biergarten, and the 2020 Dirty Ninja Mud Run For Kids™.
The Dirty Ninja Mud Run started in July 2014 and participation has grown tenfold.
The City will continue discussions regarding Fourth of July activities and the opening of Regner Park Beach swim pond. An announcement is expected in June.
Other activities open to the public include:
• The skate park and all City parks, trails, and playgrounds are open as well as pickleball, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts.
• Soccer fields and disc golf are also available.
• By May 29, all park restrooms and building facilities will open for general use and rentals. Baseball and softball fields will be open for general use, games, and league play.
• Regner Beach Splash Pad will open mid-June.
• T-ball and youth softball leagues will begin the week of June 21.
• Summer dance classes will begin the week of July 5.
On Wednesday, June 24, a free Drive-in Movie in the Park will feature Disney’s Frozen 2. In addition, the Recreation Division is presenting several new virtual programs:

• Virtual Athletic Programs
