May 6, 2020 – West Bend, WI – There was an old-fashioned sing-along outside the Auxiliary Court apartments on Tuesday night as friends gathered on their balconies to take part and help keep the spirits “up, up, UP!”
Dressed in down jackets, wool mittens and masks the senior citizens put a positive spin on the pandemic and gathered, a safe distance apart, in song.
Dorothy Jansen led the singalong with tunes reminiscent of the flapper era and the 1920s – 1950s.
Songs included: Has Anybody Seen My Gal, Let Me Call you Sweetheart, and Good Old Summertime.
People living at the Auxiliary Apartments sung from their balconies while Dorothy Jansen lead them in song from the street below.
Families gathered across the road and set up lawn chairs and blankets on the other side of the street to cheer them on.
