February 3, 2024 – West Bend, WI – A longstanding tradition during Catholic Schools Week in West Bend is the presentation of the Mother Cabrini Award at St. Frances Cabrini School.
Each year, prior to Catholic Schools Week, a committee will convene to elect/determine the recipient of the annual Mother Cabrini Award established in 1988.

The committee will consist of the winners of the three previous years, as well as, the Principal or the Pastor. The award is a “Chambers” certificate and a tiny saint of their choosing. The criteria to be considered, but not limited to include:
Perseverance, Missionary Zeal, Simplicity and Educational Mission.
At this time I would like to recognize past winners that are still teaching with us today. If you could please stand when your name is called: Mrs Taylor, Mr. Mac, Mrs. Graper, Mrs. L, Mrs. Lehnerz, Mrs. Heinen and Mrs. Wolfe. Thank you for continuing to be shining examples at SFC.
Now to present this year’s Mother Cabrini Award winner.
This teacher has been a go-getter since her interview. She dreams big and holds herself to a high standard.
She puts in a lot of time to ensure her lessons are perfect and that she has thought through everything that could go wrong and has a plan for it.
As Mother Cabrini did, she lives a simple life and puts her family and school first. Outside of school she will be found watching her brother play basketball or hanging out with her family.
For educational mission, she is one of the best we have. She puts a lot of attention to detail in to ensure that her standards are being taught well, assessed, and reinforced through the year. My favorite part of her teaching is her procedures! She makes her classroom very predictable for how it operates.
Not only does she teach her educational standards she is absolutely invested in ensuring students learn how to be better people through the sports and games that she teaches them. She truly worries about educating the whole child.
Staff commented about her sense of humor, witty comments and her principal loves her sarcasm.
I am excited and proud to announce this year’s Mother Cabrini Award goes to Cheyanne Lammert.
“I am actually I am very proud her,” said Sharon Broeckel, Cheyanne’s mom. “She puts a lot of time effort. She is very dedicated as a teacher here. She loves her job and you can really see she is so very proud.”
“It’s nice to be recognized,” said Lammert. “I put a lot of work into these kids and to build a program that reaches their entire body.”
Lammert said the entire staff at St. Frances Cabrini helps hold the bar high. “We have great staff. You saw all the people that were standing; they’ve won the award before me and they’re still here so it’s something to be said about this program, the school, this family, this Faith. We’re in good hands and it’s all for the kids.”
