Victim’s name released following Friday, March 8 train accident in Slinger

March 11, 2019 – Village of Slinger, WI – The Washington County Sheriff has released the name of the woman killed Friday, March 8 following a pedestrian vs. train accident.

According to the Sheriff on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 9:28 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an incident in which a Canadian National train struck a person in the Town of Polk, near Maple Ave South in the Village of Slinger. Slinger Police Department Officers and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, along with Lifestar Rescue and Slinger Fire Department.

Upon arrival to the area, a deceased woman was located near the tracks. Train traffic was held on the tracks for approximately six hours, and the incident remains under investigation.

According to authorities the woman killed was Jodi Renee Schonasky, 37, of the Village of Slinger.
