October 13, 2021 – Hartford, WI – United States Army veteran Gordon Peszko of Hartford, WI, said he is “very much looking forward” to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight that will leave Saturday, October 16, 2021, with 12 other veterans from Washington County and their guardians. Peszko will be traveling with his son as his companion on this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Peszko served in the Army in the area of communications working mostly with radio ops but said he spent most of his time in the motor pool. Half of his time in the military was in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge, Peszko worked and eventually retired after 30 years from A.O. Smith.
Peszko met his wife, Mary, while “cruising Wisconsin Avenue like we did back then.” Together they have three sons, one of whom will be accompanying him on the Honor Flight to D.C.
“We spent time being snowbirds,” said Peszko, of his retirement days with his wife. They headed to Texas for approximately 6 years, enjoying the friendships of the RV community they were a part of.
Now the couple enjoy a quiet life in Wisconsin and are content to watch the snow fall without any requirement to be anywhere in particular.
Peszko’s brother-in-law, Jim Luling, of Pewaukee, took part in an Honor Flight a few years ago and Peszko shared it was an extremely positive experience.
Other veterans from Washington County on the Saturday, October 16, 2021 flight include:
