Kewaskum, WI – The Olla family of Kewaskum has been posting updates following an accident at the end of May involving five of their boys, one of whom has since passed away, Val. Mom, Fay Olla, shares this latest update:
Today Luciano, 11, had his first check up at Children’s Hospital since we arrived home 4 weeks ago. He had a quick MRI to check the fluid around his brain. There was a small amount near the place the bolt had been placed in his brain to measure pressure. The neuro surgeon was not surprised by this and said we will keep an eye on it.
We also met with a couple of doctors to assess his recovery and healing. They were all amazed by his progress— only seven weeks after the accident! We know that we still have a journey of healing ahead of us, but we have much hope.
The best part of the trip was visiting some of the nurses that cared for our boys. Luc had written notes for each of the floors he had been on, expressing his gratitude for all of the dear, amazing nurses that took care of him and his brothers.
We also had a chance to talk with some of the nurses in the ER that worked on the boys the night of the accident. As we walked down the hall and opened the double doors I felt shaky and I held back my tears as I remembered that night— that night I didn’t know whether or not I was going to lose five of my sons. I just kept thinking of Val… and how the team of doctors and nurses did their best to keep him alive. And then I remind myself that the Lord wanted him home.
