The UW-Washington County mens basketball team outscored UW-Sheboygan 27 to 9 in the final minutes of their 88-76 victory in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Playoffs Saturday afternoon in West Bend.
Though UW-Sheboygan’s TJ Pitsch was hitting shots from all over the court, going 8-15 on 3-pointers, 8-16 on 2 pointers, and 8-8 on free throws while scoring a school record 48 points, the Wildcats countered with a balanced attack featuring six players scoring in double figures.
Dre Johnson had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tim Pridemore led the Wildcats scoring with 18 and added 4 blocked shots.
Hayden Steinhardt had three 3-pointers and scored 13 while adding 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists. Shaun Fischer had 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Darius Britton scored 12 with 6 rebounds.
Aaron Rathke had 10 points and 6 rebounds. For the game, the Wildcats connected on 89 percent of their free throws (16-18) and out rebounded the Wombats 48-31.
Next up for UW-Washington County in the playoffs is a trip to UW-Marinette Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game where the winner advances to the Final Four in Wisconsin Dells on the weekend.
