Jan. 6, 2019 – Washington Co., WI – The Wildcats of UWM at Washington County took on the Chargers of UW Eau Claire at Barron County at Just A Game fieldhouse Saturday morning, Jan. 5.
The majority of the game was close as both teams went toe to toe by lighting up the court with beautiful shots and assists.
The first half ended with a tie game, 32 – 32. The second half contained more of the same action, and the Chargers snagged a 75-67 lead late in the game.
With very little time left on the clock, Mike Wallace came up with a clutch steal, and Deovante Trease and Ross Waddell made two game-changing three’s.
With just 3.8 seconds left on the clock, the Wildcats intentionally fouled and sent the Chargers to the free throw line.
The first free throw was made, but the second took a hard bounce off the rim.
The Wildcats secured the rebound and called a timeout with 1.8 seconds left to play.
After the timeout, a last Hail-Mary attempt was made by the Wildcats, but it ended with a deflection and the Chargers secured the win 76-73.
David Britton lead the team in scoring with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Ross Riegleman added another 14 points and 6 rebounds.
