March 10, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Thank you to the incredible generosity of the community, the United Way of Washington County partner agencies will again, have funding for programs providing educational support, health education, and services as well as financial stability programs.
United Way of Washington County announced this week that they exceeded their 2021 fundraising goal of $1,800,000, raising $1,800,795 during the campaign!
This total exceeds the organization’s previous record of $1,725,958, which was raised in 2020. The 2021 campaign raised $74,837 over the 2020 results, which is a 4% increase.
A team of Froedtert Health leaders led the United Way of Washington County’s 2021 campaign. A big thank you to campaign co-chairs Allen Ericson: President, Froedtert West Bend Hospital and Froedtert Community Hospital locations, Shelly Waala: Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Patrick Gardner, MD: Associate Chief Medical Officer, Froedtert West Bend Hospital, Gary Herdrich, MD: Family Medicine/Primary Care, West Bend Health Center, Kelly Stueber: Director, Clinical Operations, Community Physicians, Jenny Nikolai: Director, Network Operations, Froedtert Health and Christopher Eichner: Practice Administrator, Clinical Operations, Community Physicians.
“Partnering with the United Way of Washington County helped us to make a difference in building and maintaining healthy communities,” said Allen Ericson. “Our hospitals and health centers save lives every day, but we also have a responsibility to ensure we do our part throughout the communities we serve to support everyone in the areas of education, financial stability, and health in Washington County. By exceeding the local United Way campaign goal, we are able to accomplish that.”
More than 2,390 donors contributed to the campaign at various levels of giving from $5 donations to $10,000 donations. “No matter the donation amount, collaboratively, every bit helps to meet the needs of so many in our communities through our agency partner’s programs we help fund. Everyone involved with the campaign couldn’t be prouder of how our community came together during unprecedented times,” said Kristin Brandner, CEO of the United Way of Washington County.

“This year’s campaign co-chairs, Team Froedtert, were truly amazing. On top of the added challenges with the pandemic in their daily work, they excelled at dedicating their time to the campaign. They truly are our local heroes. Their efforts were so incredible as was the support from ALL who participated in Washington County.” said Brandner.
United Way of Washington County invests in more than 20 prevention and intervention programs that improve Education, Financial Stability, and Health. Funds are allocated by panels of community volunteers. Program applications are evaluated based on alignment with United Way goals and focus areas, and strength of outcome results.
The 2022 United Way campaign will be held during the fall season.
