UPDATE | Train vs. vehicle accident in Slinger | By Lt. Cashin

December 2, 2023 – Slinger, WI – At 1:13 pm, the Slinger Police Department along with Slinger Fire and LifeStar Rescue were dispatched to the 400 block of Kettle Moraine Drive South for a single vehicle vs. train crash.

Upon arrival, Slinger Police Officers located a box style delivery truck with the rear end heavily damaged off the roadway on private property.

Officers found the shaken delivery driver behind the wheel, appearing to be uninjured.

A firsthand witness reported the box truck drove around the active railroad crossing arms and was struck by the train. The CN railroad crossing lights, swing arms and bells were all active and working properly.

The driver of the delivery truck was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Slinger Police investigation determined there was no impairment involved and appeared to be an operator error on the part of the delivery driver. There was no fault assigned to CN Railroad. The delivery driver was cited for the violation.

The CN railroad crossing on Kettle Moraine Dr. South between Chestnut St and Hartford Road is currently closed at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, due to a train vs vehicle accident.

The tracks are currently impassible. Please avoid the area while law enforcement investigates.
