Traffic control on County Highway H in Town of Kewaskum | By Washington Co. Highway Department

September 30, 2019 – Town of Kewaskum, WI – Traffic control on County Highway H between US Highway 45 and County Trunk Highway HH in the Towns of Kewaskum and Farmington will be modified in stages over the next several days. The road had been completely closed between Oak Drive and Kettle Moraine Drive to accommodate the application of a high friction surface treatment.

A posted detour remains in place. Installation of the high friction surface treatment was completed on Wednesday, September 25 but the project is not completely finished.

The curves are now temporarily open to traffic and reflective centerline markers have been placed on the roadway. “Loose gravel” and “no pavement marking” signage has been placed on each end of the project area. Traffic through the County Highway H curves will be closed on Monday and possibly Tuesday (weather pending) as the area receives a final sweeping and pavement lines are marked.

The detour signage will be removed as soon as the painting and the overall project is completed.

The bridge over the Milwaukee River just west of Oak Drive is scheduled for reconstruction in 2022. In preparation of that project, boring samples will be extracted over the next few days. While crews are taking the boring samples, traffic will be controlled utilizing flaggers. With the curves being temporarily opened to traffic, please anticipate delays and be aware of this activity.

Please see the map enclosed that displays project locations. The Washington County Highway Department appreciates your patience and understanding as we improve a hazardous segment of roadway and strive to provide a safe and reliable infrastructure and improve mobility on our county highway system.
