April 20, 2022 – Washington County, WI – On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at approximately 2:23 a.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a structure fire in the 5100 block of Hwy. 83 in the Town of Addison.
The initial caller on the scene reported that a detached garage was on fire and that flames and smoke were visible. The first responding deputy reported he observed active flames and the fire was contained to the detached garage south of the residence.

St. Lawrence Fire Department responded to the scene. They were assisted by Allenton Fire Department, Slinger Fire Department, and Hartford Fire Department. They were able to keep the fire contained to the detached garage only, preventing damage to the other nearby structures including the residence.
There were no injuries to the property owner or any personnel on the scene as a result of the fire. The garage was described as a 30’x50’ structure that contained tools, vehicles, and farm implements. The structure and its contents were a total loss. The property owner was unable to provide any preliminary damage estimates.
Traffic on Hwy 83 between Hwy K and Hwy S was shut down for approximately two and a half hours to assist fire department efforts on the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the fire did not appear to be suspicious in nature, but the fire is still under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and St. Lawrence Fire Department.
