There are some very subtle signs that construction will soon be getting underway soon for the new Meijer in West Bend.
The Michigan-based grocery chain will be building on the back lot of a 30.6-acre site on S. Main Street. The property used to belong to the Yahr family and was home to the former Bend Industries.
Drive south down Main Street and you’ll see a parade of flags marking the electrical, gas and water lines.
There’s also some flags and red paint in the area of Glacier Hills Credit Union as Meijer purchased .357 acres for $150,000 for part of its entrance /exit off Main Street.
The store is also adding traffic lights at the intersection by Humar Street.
Ground is expected to be broken for the new 192,940-square-foot store within the next month.
