Jan. 10, 2017 – West Bend, WI – In its first home game of 2017, the UW-Washington County Wildcats mens basketball team defeated UW-Richland 96-72.
Every player in uniform scored at least 3 points for the Wildcats. Aaron Rathke led UW-WC with 23, Shawn Fischer with 21, Dre Johnson with 18, and Evan Rathke with 14. Fischer and Johnson dominated the rebounding with season highs of 16 boards each.
Aaron Rathke converted on 6 of 12 from 3-point range. Assists were led by Fischer and Evan Rathke with 4 each and Evan led in steals with 3.
The team connected on 21 of 26 free throws for 81% from the line.
One of the additional highlights for the Wildcats was seeing Cedarburg native and 3-point specialist Sam Krause hit his first 3-pointer in his first college basketball game as he joins the Wildcats team for the 2nd semester after transferring back home from Coastal Carolina.
UW-Washington County travels to UW-Sheboygan County on Wednesday for a very important game that begins at 6 p.m.
